These tunings rings, made from solid nickel-silver (a copper alloy) , come in a set of 3, including .5mm, .75mm, and 1mm thickness. Used inside the lower barrel socket or middle clarinet socket, they reduce or eliminate gaps in the bore created by lengthening the instrument for tuning purposes. Tuning rings can be made from less expensive plastics, but there is a noticeable difference in the sound quality and resonance.
