The Honu bass clarinet mouthpiece was created during our time stationed in Honolulu, Hawai'i at Pearl Harbor. Meaning "green sea turtle" in Hawai'ian, the Honu bass clarinet mouthpiece was inspired by trips to the North Shore of O'ahu, watching the sea turtles in their natural habitat.
Based on the same large A-frame chamber design as my original Custom mouthpiece but with a slightly lower internal baffle, the Honu bass clarinet mouthpiece provides all of the qualities of the Corbin Custom blank with a slightly warmer, deeper sound due to the table and baffle.
Each mouthpiece is CNC-milled from solid German rod rubber and extensively hand-finished for a refined look, feel, and sound. The O-rings provide a perfect seal and a longer-lasting, cheaper alternative to cork. Grease is still recommended for use with the O rings on first application if it is initially tight, as the O-rings do need to "seat" into their grooves when new.
Facings:
C1 - Medium Closed, Medium Long (3.0+ - 4.0 reeds recommended)
C2 - Medium, Medium Long (3.0 - 3.5+ reeds recommended)
C3 - Open, Long (2.5 - 3.0 reeds recommended)
